Institute for Humane Education Resources

We wanted to let you know about the fantastic offerings of the Institute for Humane Education (IHE). Headquartered in Surry, ME, IHE offers opportunities for professional development as well as loads of free resources all designed to help you educate your students to be solutionaries, people who eager and able to identify and solve systemic problems in their communities, state, country, and world. They also offer resources for students.

Here are some of their offerings:

• A Solutionary Micro-credential Program for teachers: This 30-hour program begins the first Tuesday of every month. If you’re looking for summer professional development, this program will introduce you to the solutionary concept, help you become a solutionary yourself, and mentor you as you create a plan to bring solutionary learning to your students. There’s a sliding scale so everyone can participate!

Free resources including loads of lesson plans, issues boards, a Solutionary Guidebook for Teachers and a version for students and changemakers, How to Be a Solutionary. These guidebooks provide a step-by-step process to become a solutionary.

Online graduate program with Antioch University including an M.Ed., M.A., Ed.D., and Graduate Certificate. These are the only programs of their kind in the world and link environmental sustainability, social justice, animal protection, and changemaking.
