Advancing outdoor learning with mini-grants
Schools from all over the state submitted proposals to our new small grants program the Outdoor Learning Fund for Maine Public Schools. The program was able to raise and give away $100K this Fall to support teachers and students in public schools across the state. The recipients of this grant received from $300-$1,500 to fund their outdoor learning projects; from projects like building benches for outdoor classrooms, creating mud kitchens for young kids, outdoor learning curriculum development, classroom sets of snowshoes and technical equipment for outdoor science investigations, to purchasing foul-weather gear we supported a wide range of innovative projects!
The funds from this grant supported 85 schools in 15 counties funding powerful outdoor learning projects in roughly 1/7 of schools across the state. The teachers that applied are doing incredible things for their students and we are working with them to meet students’ needs however we can help. Thank you to all who donated to make this critical support possible this fall!
